Get a glimpse at how companies around the world are establishing their low-carbon transition plans. What methods do their use to design their plans? How can their plans be assessed to make sure they are aligned with the Paris Agreement? How do Japanese companies perform in this global trend?<\/strong> <\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

Event Introduction <\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The World Benchmarking Alliance (WBA<\/a>), a global non-profit organization, establishes free and publicly available benchmarks measuring the contributions of 2000 companies to the SDGs. WBA\u2019s mission is to drive private sector accountability in reaching the Global Sustainability Goals set in the UN\u2019s 2030 Agenda. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

WBA\u2019s climate benchmarks, based on the Assessing Low-Carbon Transition (ACT<\/a>) methodology, assess the quality of transition plans of companies in heavy-emitting sectors: oil & gas, automobile, electricity, and \u2013 from October this year – transport. The ultimate aim is to cover 450 companies across 8 sectors by the end of 2023. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Considering their influential role in global decarbonization challenges, many Japanese companies are already covered by these benchmarks, including Toyota, TEPCO, Idemitsu, and ANA. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In this event co-organized with Japanese consultancy Codo Advisory, the World Benchmarking Alliance, its partners CDP<\/a> and Caux Round Table Japan<\/a>, companies from different regions will discuss how WBA\u2019s climate benchmarks can contribute to raising corporate awareness for climate action in Japan. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
