Codo expands its network

Since its launch in March 2022, Codo Advisory has been proactively expanding its pool of partners, allies, and networks.

As Codo became the first provider of ACT assessment in Japan, the ACT Initiative, that gathers ADEME – the French ecological transition agency, and CDP (Carbon Disclosure Project) a global non-profit that helps organisations disclose their environmental impact, became our main founding partner. The World Benchmarking Alliance, which utilises ACT methodology for its latest well-rounded sectoral benchmarks, also partnered with Codo for stronger engagement with Japanese corporates.

Our founding partners outside of the climate assessment field – the University of Glasgow and Hibiya Park Law Offices – will bring respectively their academic and law expertise, while Codo will offer them access to its expertise in the green transition in Japan.

After the launch announcement in April, Codo is proud to introduce the second round of expansion of its network, highlighting the need for cross-sectoral collaboration in the global goal of reaching net-zero emissions. Codo is now a proud member and supporter of the following groups.

  • Japan Climate Initiative – the largest group of non-state actors advocating stronger climate efforts of Japan. With 600+ members in 2022, the Japan Climate Initiative is committed to strengthening communication and exchange of strategies and solutions among all actors that are implementing climate actions in Japan.
  • GX League – established by Japan’s Ministry of Economy Trade and Industry, the GX League promotes collaborations across industry, academia, and government to transform the economic and social landscape in Japan and promote green transition. Over 440 Japanese companies are already participating in the GX League, and the pool is rapidly growing.
  • European Business Council in Japan (EBC) – the trade policy arm of 15 European National Chambers of Commerce and Business Associations in Japan and has been working to improve the trade and investment environment for European companies in Japan since 1972. The EBC coordinates policy proposals and makes suggestions to the Japanese Government on how to create an open environment for trade and investment in Japan.
  • French Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Japan (CCIFJ) – CCIFJ is a non-profit organization belonging to a worldwide network of more than 100 French chambers. In Japan, CCIFJ’s ever-expanding network of over 600 companies is a platform to connect with French, international and Japanese economic actors. Since last year, CCIFJ is the largest foreign chamber of commerce and industry in Japan, surpassing the American chamber.
  • Task Force on Climate-Related Financial Disclosures (TCFD) – Codo is a registered supporter of TCFD, the leading global initiative established in 2015 to develop consistent climate-related financial risk disclosures for use by companies, banks, and investors in providing information to stakeholders.

As a new bridge between Japan and the world on the matter of corporate environmental sustainability, Codo will both contribute and promote the work of these organizations and provide its input in their respective activities.
