Codo’s support
Codo conducted a Biodiversity Collage workshop in February 2024 for 8 employees of Somic Management Holdings Inc. and Somic Ishikawa Inc. involved in environmental and forestry activities.
The Biodiversity Collage is a three-hour workshop designed to enhance awareness and understanding of biodiversity. Using 39 cards based on the IPBES report, the workshop employs a game format that allows beginners and professionals to efficiently learn in a short period.
Our client had expressed two expectations for the workshop: “deepening understanding of biodiversity” and “promoting biodiversity actions within our company.”
Regarding the first objective “deepening understanding of biodiversity,” an assessment of participants’ understanding of biodiversity was conducted through surveys before and after the workshop. The results showed a significant increase of 77% in understanding after the workshop compared to before, indicating a substantial positive impact.
Regarding the second objective of “promoting biodiversity actions within our company,” numerous ideas were generated during the discussion on actions for biodiversity conservation. Additionally, participants expressed positive comments such as “I want to act with awareness of biodiversity in the future” and “I want to explore what can be done both individually and as a company“. These proactive comments indicate a promotion of personal engagement in biodiversity issues, which can contribute to further initiatives. The results suggest promising future actions towards realizing the ideas generated during the workshop.
A word from Somic Management Holdings Inc.
Somic Management Holdings Inc.“To address the issue of “thinking you know about biodiversity but not fully understanding it,” we have decided to request a Biodiversity Collage workshop targeting multiple departments involved in our company’s biodiversity activities. Participants learned about biodiversity collapse through a card game and engaged in communication with each other. As a result, they felt that their understanding deepened more than through traditional lecture-style training sessions.”
