ADEME and Codo team up to support business decarbonization in Japan

Over the recent years, Japanese companies have massively embraced international frameworks for corporate climate action, such as CDP scoring and TCFD disclosure. Many of them have also announced net-zero goals for 2050 or earlier. Yet to transform these ambitious goals into actual results, concrete action plans supporting a transition strategy are needed.

The ACT methodology co-developed by ADEME and CDP, leading institutions in the field, covers this missing link. Together, ADEME and CDP are now promoting ACT more actively in Japan, to help local companies improve their climate plans. As part of this move, ADEME signed in July 2022 a Memorandum of Understanding with local consultancy Codo Advisory, established this year to support Japanese firms’ decarbonization strategies.

Under the partnership, ADEME and Codo Advisory agree to work together to facilitate access to ACT resources for Japanese companies and financial institutions. Joint activities agreed upon include providing documentation translated to Japanese, organizing events in Japan, and promoting the ACT framework to various local stakeholders.

“By using the ACT methodology to identify the weaknesses in their low-carbon transition strategy, Japanese companies can reduce their climate-related financial risks by anticipating potential attacks from activist shareholders. We are proud to become an official partner of ACT co-developer ADEME for the promotion of this methodology in Japan”
