Codo’s launch in the Japanese media

On the 19th of April, Codo Advisory was officially launched in Kyushu. The launch event in Fukuoka City was successful among the local press, as the mayor of the city acknowledged Codo’s ambition to help local businesses decarbonise.

One of the highlights of the launch press conference media coverage was two articles published by Nikkei, the most influential newspaper in Japan and the largest newspaper in the world. Both articles talk about Codo’s ambition to decarbonise Japanese companies from different industrial sectors by providing international expertise in carbon assessment and transition strategy. Codo became the first advisory company in Japan to bring ACT methodology to Japan with the help of the French ecological agency ADEME and global non-profit CDP. The mayor of Kyushu was delighted to have Codo help local companies transition towards net-zero with the help of ACT.

Kankyo business, a Japanese business newspaper specialising in the environmental sector, published an article about Codo Advisory launch with a focus on explaining the role of ACT in Codo’s business. ACT is acknowledged as a comprehensive and effective methodology for formulating and evaluating corporate low-carbon strategies, as well as for providing reliable climate-related information to investors. The main clients that Codo expects to onboard in the first phase of its development are large companies, local governments, banks, and SMEs.

Fukuoka Economic News covered the launch of Codo as an advisory service based in Kyushu that will align local companies with global standards on ESG disclosure. Codo will improve compliance of local businesses with global sustainability requirements, strengthen their appeal to foreign investors sensitive to greenwashing, and contribute to achieving regional and country-wire decarbonisation.

RKB Mainichi Broadcasting, a broadcasting station from Fukuoka, streamed the launch event and posted the highlights on its YouTube channel. RKB highlights the role of ACT methodology as the global standard for evaluating organisational decarbonisation efforts as well as the key tool in the Codo’s services offering. ADEME and CDP were mentioned as co-developers of the methodology that will connect Japanese companies with the world. The mayor of Fukuoka city, Soichiro Takashima, raised high hopes for Codo becoming a local force that will help companies in Kyushu become attractive to global investors.

Nishinippon Newspaper covered the launch of Codo Advisory in its printed version. The daily newspaper introduced ACT as an international methodology for corporate climate action evaluation that is rapidly attracting global attention. Backed by the support of ACT’s developers – CDP and ADEME, Codo aims to provide ACT services to 100 companies based in Kyushu by 2026, writes Nishinippon.

Mainichi Shinbun, one of the major newspapers in Japan, covered the launch press conference of Codo Advisory held in Kyushu. Codo will use the ACT methodology common in the EU to help local companies decarbonise their processes by establishing efficient transition strategies.

The launch event and support speech from Mayor Takashima of Fukuoka was also featured on Fukuoka City official YouTube channel.
